"Flathead Cherry Classic" Youth Street Hockey Tournament

By now, everyone surely knows that the incredible Polson Main Street Flathead Cherry Festival is happening this weekend, July 21 and 22. With events like the Cherry Pie-Eating Contest and Cherry Pit-Spitting Contest, live music, and amazing food and craft vendors, there is already a huge amount of fun to be had at this annual community extravaganza. However, this year will also feature a new addition to the festivities: the inaugural Flathead Cherry Classic!

This round-robin street hockey tournament has been organized by the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association as a fun way to raise interest in the sport of hockey. On Saturday, July 21, kids 15 and under are welcome to join in the fun by either pre-registering online or registering in person at 8 a.m. at the Association's Cherry Festival tent. Registered teams will need to report to the tent by 9 a.m. to get their tournament schedule and begin play.

The tournament will be divided into two divisions, a 12 & under division and a 15 & under division. The first 40 players to register will receive a free T-shirt and there will be prizes for the division winners!

If your child is interested in playing, go to the MVIAA's website for more information and to register. Importantly, all players will need a parent to sign a Tournament Waiver and Release Form before they will be allowed to play.

Good luck to all the teams!
