Flathead Lake Rock Skipping Championship

If you think skipping rocks is silly, then think again! The fourth annual Flathead Lake Rock Skipping Championship will be held on Saturday, June 2 at Riverside Park in Polson! You can register on the morning of the event to join in on the intense rock-skipping fun, but remember to B.Y.O.R. (Bring Your Own Rocks).

This event was first held in 2015 as a way to help raise money for the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association and is now entering its fourth year of helping bring ice sports to the Mission Valley. The fun of the competition is well worth the entry fee, which is just $15 for adults and $12 for kids age 12 and under. Plus, register a family of 4 or more for just $45!

If you are interested in competing, head over to The Cove Deli and Pizza in Polson at 9 a.m. on June 2 for registration. Event organizers will go over the official rules at 9:45, there will be a bagpipe procession down to Riverside Park at 9:50, and the singing of the national anthem at 9:55 before competition kicks off at 10.

Adults will be scored based on the best number of skips from 6 throws, while kids will be scored based on the best of 4 throws. All scoring will be at the discretion of the event's three expert judges!

Afterward, everyone is invited to attend the awards presentation from 11-11:30 while enjoying lunch at the Cove! Pizza and drinks are included for all registered participants.
