Broken window seals are often a hidden problem that can go unnoticed until it is to late. This can include a build up of moisture, mold, and even wood rot that can creep into the wall. Faulty caulk in the window panes can even cause damage to flooring inside the home. Be sure to check your windows at least twice a year to make sure any problems can be addressed in a timely manner.

Exhaust fans serve as an important way to keep air flow normalized. In the bathroom an exhaust can make sure warm moist air is moved out in order to reduce excess moisture build up. Attic exhaust fans or any ventilation fan can help save energy by expelling warm air and bringing cooler air in. They can also help regulate the roof temperature and reduce chances of damage. These fans should be cleaned every three months to make sure that they are working properly.

Water heaters will tend to gather particulates and sediment over time and it is very important to drain them every 6-12 months. This will keep the water heater from depositing or potentially damaging any of your lines or valves. Draining the tank is as easy as placing a bucket under the drain valve. This will remove any sediment that may have been building up.

Small foundation cracks can eventually lead to major damage if not taken care of early. These cracks, if caught early, can be filled with concrete sealer that you can find at any home improvement store.

The kitchen sink is one of the most used areas in your home. Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and water can take its toll.  Making sure that all waterproof seals are intact will help insure no unexpected damage will pop up in the future.

Your home is one of the most important investments you will ever make. Protect it by taking some proactive steps to ensure the long life of your property.
